The Four of Us

I am a 36 year old mother of two: Andrew is 5 1/2 and Lizzie is 3 years old. Andrew loves taking care of his eight chickens and Lizzie loves wearing courderoy overalls on a hot summer day. I am married to Andy who is an avid cyclist and could eat red chile enchiladas every day. And me, I am Jenny. And I feel my soul when I dance. Andy and I turned my garage into a studio last year, where people of all ages come and dance, move, paint (on paper and on bodies!), ritualize important transitions in their lives (by doing things like breaking plates and eating chocolate) and sing. I love it in there. And I only have to walk about 20 steps to my sanctuary. And because of this sanctuary and because of this practice of movement and dance, I am a better mother (when I don't bellow down to my children "GOOD BEHAVIOR OR NO SESAME STREET!); a better partner (when I am not playing tit for tat, comparing who has had more time, me or him); and a better all kinds of things. Life is rich; rich with teachings. From surviving a life threatening illness like cancer to going to the public pool with my kids, there are nuggets of wisdom everywhere. It is all there, right in front of me, and I just have to get it down. Thank you for reading...
