Kissing the Snake: Unearthing Beauty #14

I feed my body all manner of things. Sometimes my motivation is health and fueling my body. Other times, it is to avoid my feelings. When my dear old friend, Cindy, would see me digging for the cookie dough in a tub of ice cream, she would say in her North Carolinian drawl, "Are you eatin' your feelin's again?" Sometimes, I do not make space in a day to feed my body what it really needs. My body can take a back seat to other "more important things."

I can get very self righteousness about fast food restaurants. They are not looking out for our best interests. Their food is bad for us. The only thing they care about is money. My self righteousness is not a helpful companion in seeking wholeness. Yes, I am not a big fan of McDonalds. But McDonalds is not wrong inherently. McDonalds is a cheap, fast meal for many who really need it. It makes life easier for some. And, McDonalds serves salads. Hey, at least they are trying.  And to be totally honesty, there are times that a tall fountain Coke and a salty, red cardboard box filled with french fries, hits the spot.
