Kissing the Snake: Unearthing Beauty #20

The children grew pumpkins in this little preschool garden, planted each seed and watched them grow. And, one night, someone stole them. Then someone came back, and stole more pumpkins that were donated by the community. And they also destroyed the sprinkler system of this non-profit cooperative nursery school, where pennies are pinched, for sure. The community stepped up. A woman came with her sprinkler company and fixed the school's system for free. Whole Foods donated over a hundred pumpkins and much, much more. Two teenage boys came in and said, "We have children too, and we wanted to bring these for the children here." And a little old farmer from the plains came in with one pumpkin in his hands, an offering to the children. The playground and school is now filled with hundreds of pumpkins. And what is the school doing, opening this two acre playground to the community..and..sharing it's pumpkins with all. My heart sings.
