Step Into the Circle

I spent my morning, yesterday, with one hundred and thirty children. I taught at a Bible school at a local church. We began with moving around the room and dancing with different body parts; feet, feet and hands, elbows and knees, hips and head. That sort of thing. We then did what I call the "I am special" dance. The Bible passage was the one about the woman who gives her last coin, versus the one who gives a whole ton of money. And the woman with the one coin is the rich one. We are the rich ones, simply by honoring the Love within us. Such a simple, yet very powerful act. We did this, yesterday, through the dance. Imagine about fifty children in a circle, pumping music going, then one after another, children and adult, jumping into the middle of the circle and dancing their hearts out. The circle outside stomping their feet and clapping in support. Everyone had their place.  It is a total riot; not with out some nervousness, some awkwardness. But wow, vitality at it's finest.

What did the children have to say about this? Some said, it was good. Some said it was fun. Another said, she felt alive in her heart. And another little boy said, "I feel alive all over." One young girl said, free. Another said, a little embarrassed, but fun. And one little guy, raised his hand and said with sparkling eyes and a huge smile, "I felt like Jesus was holding my hand when I danced." Does Jesus dance with us? Hell yes, he does. With every other angel singing in heaven and on earth.

At the end of one session, I stepped into the middle of the circle and said to each adult, "You know, you have this in you. This vitality, this life. It is not gone. It may feel like a long way back to it. But it is there. Dance your way back to it." It is ancient. It is global and it is absolutely human nature and instinctual to dance. To move. You will be amazed. By just a simple dance, you can feel the life in that heart of yours.
