Jump for Joy
This morning I stayed for a few minutes in my daughter's kindergarten class. I sat in the circle with twenty plus five year olds, Grandpa Don (a teacher's assistant) and the teacher. The teacher pulled out a guitar and started strumming. I settled in. I love music, especially when the person playing it is sitting and singing right in front of me. She sang a song about the color clothing we were wearing, and when she sang your color, you were instructed to stand up and jump. And jump. And jump. I actually sat there hoping she would call out my color! Please say purple. Please say blue. Who would have known, I loved to jump! Here I was, jumping around with a teacher, a grandpa and a ton of kids. I looked around and saw us as a little community, jumping for the joy of it. Together. I felt part of something. And I walked out of her room, and into my life this morning, grateful; grateful for a teacher who sings, and invites us to jump up and down. It's the simple things that can bring us the purest joy.
