The Circle of Life

As I drove Andrew and Lizzie to their last day of school last week, Lizzie, my 7 year old daughter said, "Mom, there is a person dying somewhere in the world right now, right this second." And I said, "You are right, there are a lot of people dying right in this moment." She sat quiet for a bit and then said, "And Mom, there are a lot of people whose birthday is today too." And I said, "Yep, people are being born right this moment too. Isn't that amazing?" And she answered, "Yeah, but I am not either of those today. I am just here now."  It is amazing how the young often notice what is most important. Death, birth and life. The cycle just keeps keeping on.
