Hopeful...
I am hopeful...
...when I witness two ten-year old girls walking down the sidewalk on the way to school holding hands
...seeing people pull their cars over for a rushing ambulance
...when cars stop behind a school bus letting children off at the bus stop
...when a 3rd grade teacher can see that the first days of school are hard for my child and I and she comes over and hugs me
...when my son builds his own fishing rod
...when I have the guts to say I am sorry
...when I hear how much the church cares about its youth and yet doesn't know how best to serve them
...when I make up a recipe and it tastes good
...when I hear a good poem
...when I see a sunflower literally turning to face the sun
...when I look in my dog's eyes
...when I feel my cat's fur on my face
...when my husband laughs
...when my children get dirty
...when I get down on my knees
...when my daughter paints her nails all different colors on the back porch
How about you?

I am hopful when...
- my husband cries at his graduation
- my son tells me about how disrespectful his friend is to his mother
- my mother in law actually hears me
- I do yoga to the sunrise in my living room
- my daughter shows her friend her new song on the piano
- I attend a meeting bone tired and come away energized
- the family cat comes when I call
- I find a doe and her fawn at dusk
- everyone snuggles in the bed (spouse, two kids, two dogs, cat)
- it rains
- I smell wood shavings and horse sweat in the barn
- go to the youth group info meeting and the room is full with many new people
- when I dream of flying and breathing underwater

I feel hopeful when
My almost 10 yr. old grandson Andrew, calls me and talks with me for over an hour about the family tree he is doing for school and asks questions about his ancestors. He will remember.....
