Start with the Breath
All material human needs should be met materially and all nonmaterial human needs met non-materially. From Beyond the Limits: Confronting Global Collapse, Envisioning a Sustainable Future
How many times do I try to satiate my loneliness with a brownie or my children's Halloween candy? How many times do I try to relieve my anger by screaming at and burdening another person? How often do I avoid myself by filling up my schedule?
Today, let us consider how we can get our nonmaterial needs (i.e. emotional, spiritual needs) met in nonmaterial ways. Not by buying stuff, eating stuff, sex, money, alcohol, drugs, other people's opinions, but by turning to the Love within us. Yes, it is much more abstract than a brownie, but the breath makes it real. Start with the breath.
